Back Sleeping No More

I know, I know, the mantra is "Back to Sleep" Edmund has always been perfectly content to sleep on his back. But now he can roll over himself and apparently suddenly prefers sleeping on his belly. For a couple nights he was waking up at 2 or 3 to nurse. I figured he was just going through a growth spurt. But I noticed him trying to roll on his belly when going to sleep and getting very frustrated when he couldn't get there. So, he slept on his belly the other night and didn't wake up at all:) Of course, he did wake up at 3 last night, so he could be going through a bit of a growth spurt too.

seriously, back to sleep only applies to babies before they are strong enough to roll and hold their heads up themselves. once they can choose, you really can't keep them on their backs anymore. just keep toys, pillows, bumpers and blankets out of there so he can't suffocate on them, and let him sleep as he chooses. of my 3 kids, 2 were tummy sleepers -- it was so comforting to them and the only way any of us got any rest. they make you feel like you are absolutely abusing kids when you let them tummy sleep these days. it's terrible. just be reasonable.
